Art of Crochet is a collection of crochet couture patterns that will knock your socks right off
(and give you the chance to stitch them back on again).

Sexy patterns with instructions for sizes 0-26 and full-color photography set in fabulous downtown Chicago, this book is visually lush and fashion forward. Detailed instructions remove all guesswork and contrasting examples encourage the designer in you.

This website was designed to spoil you, and change how patterns are published.
  • The Pattern Generator takes your measurements and turns them into patterns tailored exactly to you -- with no extra numbers to circle or row counts to fiddle with.

  • Video Stitch Guides for every single stitch used in the patterns.

  • Photo Gallery with hundreds of extra photos, so you can see the exact fit and drape (as well as outtakes and bloopers to tickle your funny bone).
  • Post a new comment

Wow, that's gorgeous. The talent you must possess to do something like that amazes me!
Hello, I found your site from 'a twisted stitch' link, and your patterns are truly amazing! I added you to my friends list as well; so inspirational.

Hail Eris, All Hail Discordia!

Cool - nice to meet you.

You filled out a survey on my site, too, right? I'm asking because I spent a lot of time on Kaua'i growing up... my grandmother was a nurse at the state mental hospital.
Here, complimenting via squee.

*toddles off to purchase the pattern*
That's really quite lovely. Is it knitted or crocheted? And is it available as a pattern?

-Ogre
It is crocheted, and it is available as a pattern on my website -- Spiderweb Skirt

Thank you!

And I am glad you linked to the post. The more people who know, the better, in my opinion.

There are so many good spinners out there and their reputation and craft shouldn't suffer because some people are irresponsible.
Pretty please; can you tell me if there's anywhere or anyone I can buy a skirt like that from?

It is really quite sad that your group of women have devoted themselves to litigation. There are starving children dropping daily in Darfur. There is a war being fought by your country without UN sanction. Yet you concern yourself with a company like Disney (who uses child slave labor to make THEIR products) and reporting infringements against them. And this is all started over patterns? Do you not see how ridiculous this is? Do you not see that time is energy and energy spent on something so egotistical, so self-centered is but a waste. Your group of women is not adding anything useful, not giving something to society but pretty skirts and napkins. As a woman it would be so nice to see posts about my fellow women coming together over say.....genital mutilation of young girls. In other words: SOMETHING THAT REALLY MATTERS. But patterns. *shakes head* Sad. Just sad.

This skirt is sooo wonderful! I just ordered the pattern!

Thanks!

Well thank you! I hope you enjoy it. And always feel free to e-mail me if you need any help.
Thanks in advance for answering my half-dozen questions!

I'm having a problem with the top of the waistband of the skirt; it bunches, making the top a wavy circle instead of a line (does this make any sense?). Do you think this means I have too many/too few stitches, or having an elastic problem, or what?

Thanks again :)
You might be using too much elastic, or it is possible that your tension was a bit too tight.

I would say to shorten the piece of elastic (cut it, then restitch it together.

It might still bunch just a small amount, and that's ok. It'll flatten out when you wear it.
In regard to your deletion of my post on twisted_stitch: I've been a member of that community since its inception & have seen the many discussions of label design & 'rip off' design between you and croshay for example. As I believe has been said & said again, the stitch itself is hardly a rip-off, since it is by no means licensed solely to Ann Taylor.

Furthermore, the reproduction of said stitch into a similar or different garment is also not encroaching on a "copyright" even if such a notion were not completely inapplicable to the situation.

Obviously, I disagree with you & your subsequent censoring of my post.
You've never witnessed croshay and I trying to dissect someone else's design so taht we could make it for ourselves.

It doesn't violate copyright, it violates ethics.

And the community is for ORIGINAL crochet. I've deleted other posts that use patterns. I think copying also counts as unoriginal, don't you?

This is so beautiful. I am definitely going to crochet a skirt when I have more experience. They're so feminine, without being tarty.
Thanks. I like tarty, too, to be honest. I'm a big fan of showing off curves.

Thanks! I really did lose this reply. I'm glad you sent it to me. I'll copy and paste it in the original entry, if you like -- because I am proud of what I wrote.
Very nice! Just wanted to say hi. Since crochet completely blew up, I figured I'd track you down since I liked the stuff you posted.
Thank you.

I'd love to take credit for them, but I don't even make the dildo cozies.

That's one of the funny things abotu all of this -- I was defending other people. All my "art" is vanilla -- hats, skirts, sweaters....

I'm adding you to my friends list. Because you rock. I love your dildo cozies, all your patterns, and I think that the end of crochet was all your fault...but for the better anyway.

I didn't crochet the tampons. I don't crochet anything controversial. I just support the people who do. It's because I am good at supporting those people that's the problem.

and something called friendlycrochet is really not my cup o tea. I like a place where disagreemetn and dissent is encouraged, not feared.
Hey, I made my way here from crochet_snark, and I gotta' tell ya', I love it when you fuck people up with debate. So you mind if I friend you?
right on -- I must say that I've been an admirer of yours for a while, too. vive le snark!

Since I read your journal all the time, I'd like to add you to my friend's list. I'm not crazy -you just inspire the hell out of me.
I wouldn't think you are crazy...!

Glad to meet you.
It was great meeting you tonight - I LOVE your patterns and am psyched for the book to come out.

I'm so glad you came over and I got to meet you. I'm happy you enjoyed yourself.

Thanks for the good wishes on the book. I didn't get the chance to show you the new designs -- I was going to hang them up around the apartment, but I didn't get to it in time.
hehe. How perfect.
Will the photo gallery have pictures of larger sizes?
larger than what?

I hope you find a solution to your problems with your publisher because I am out and out dying for this book! It's the only crochet book I'm looking forward to and I'd hate for it to be compromised because of clueless editors/publishers. Good luck and take care of yourself!

I'm confused... is the book still coming out or is it replaced by the new website (which is awesome, btw)? The book is still listed at Amazon and overstock.com but I just read on another site that Art of Crochet replaces the book. Either way, thanks for sharing your talent!
